Scherzo Ensemble is a collective of young singers in the final stages of their training who come together to make music collaboratively. Since being founded by Matthew O’Keeffe in 2015 the group have given dozens of recitals around London, programming an original mixture of ensemble and solo repertoire along historical or conceptual themes.

The group have recently completed a year’s residency at St Cuthbert’s Church, Philbeach Gardens, where they performed monthly themed recitals including Brahms’ Lieder & Partsongs, A Musical Rosary, An English Spring & 20th C Light Music. Scherzo Chorus & Orchestra have developed since 2017, allowing the group to perform larger repertoire including oratorio and operatic repertoire. Next year, the group will return with another year’s residency, and record a CD of under-performed 19th-century vocal music.
